How to update safely
Download the APK
Get the newest EduLink APK from the official school page.
- Tap the Download button
- Wait until the file finishes downloading
- Verify the file is saved in your Downloads folder
Open the APK File
Start the installation process by opening the downloaded file.
- Locate the file in Downloads
- Tap the APK to begin
- Some devices may first scan the file for security
Handle Security Prompts Common variation
Different devices may show different warnings before installation.
- If asked to scan first, allow the scan to complete
- If you see Install anyway, tap it to proceed
- Ensure you downloaded from the official school site
Tap Update / Install
Install without uninstalling if the APK is signed the same way.
- Tap Update if prompted
- Tap Install if it’s a fresh install
- Do not uninstall first if updating
Open EduLink After Install
Refreshing the app ensures notifications and fingerprint options work.
- Tap Open after installation
- Allow permissions if requested
- Confirm notifications and fingerprint login are active
If Android says the package is invalid or conflicts, the new file was signed differently from the app on your phone. Uninstall the old EduLink once, then install this APK — after that, future updates can install on top.
Version timeline
- Faster chat sync — open threads refresh about every 1s + immediate wake when you return to the app.
- Push → live thread — FCM refreshes the open chat immediately when the peer is online.
- Builds on 1.5.10 call / ringtone fixes.
- Answer from notification — opens the call in one step (no blank screen).
- System ringtone — uses the phone’s Ring volume / default tone.
- Fingerprint unlock beside PIN (App lock settings).
- Contact photo preview, shorter ⋮ menu, photo viewer refresh.
Settings → App lock → Unlock with fingerprint.
- Stronger incoming-call wake / notification channel.
- Call ringtone and full-screen call reliability.
- School chat, voice/video calls, status, groups, and PIN app lock.
- Loads the live EduLink web app inside a secure Android shell.
Quick FAQ
Do I need the Play Store?
Not yet. EduLink is distributed as a school APK. Store listing is planned later.
Will I lose my chat login when I update?
Usually no — if you update over the same app. Uninstalling clears local app data and you must sign in again.
Android blocks the install
Allow install from your browser/Files app when prompted. Use Chrome or Files to open the downloaded .apk.
Web features vs APK
Many chat improvements go live on the server without a new APK. Fingerprint and some call/push fixes need a new APK install.
