Admission Policy

Guiding principles for admission at Enlight Christian School

Purpose of Admission Policy

  • To promote and safeguard the distinctively Christian character of Enlight Christian School.
  • To ensure a high level of parental involvement and support for the activities of Enlight Christian School and the Society.
  • To ensure that each student is placed in the most appropriate learning environment.
  • To ensure that parents are well informed as to the distinctively Christian character of this school by having appropriate admission and membership procedures in place.

Admission Requirements

  1. At least one parent or guardian must support and be in full agreement with the statement that their child will be learning about Christianity.
  2. Junior Kindergarten children must be at least four (4) years of age by July 21, Senior Kindergarten children should be five (5) years of age by July 21, and Grade One (1) students should be six (6) years of age by July of the year of entry.
  3. All eligible school-age children will be enrolled unless the school is unable to meet specific needs or Board approval is given.
  4. Enrolment for all children is subject to the determination and acceptance of the grade/program placement as directed by the Principal.
  5. Children may be enrolled subject to availability of facilities, class sizes, availability of qualified teachers, special educational needs, and registration deadlines as determined by the Board. The Principal reserves the right to refuse admission if the school is unable to meet the needs of a particular child.
  6. Any child enrolled may be subject to a probationary period (Sept.–Nov.) during which the Principal will determine if the school can meet the child’s needs. In special cases, the Principal may request an additional probationary term from the Board.

Bullying Not Accepted

Students who bully others physically or verbally will be subject to counselling with one of our professional counsellors and their parents. If bullying continues after significant efforts to reform the child, the student may be required to transfer to another school.
